Who We Are

Bowling Green Futsal (BG Futsal) is an adult futsal league based in Bowling Green, KY. We are committed to providing a high-quality, safe, and competitive environment for players of all skill levels to enjoy the beautiful game of futsal.

To grow the sport of futsal in South Central Kentucky by offering organized league play that emphasizes sportsmanship, community, and player development.

League Structure

BG Futsal currently operates with two primary divisions to ensure competitive balance across the league. Our seasons typically run in the spring and winter months at local indoor facilities.

🏆 Division A

For more experienced and competitive teams. Higher level of play with strong inter-team rivalries built over multiple seasons.

⚽ Division B

For recreational teams and players newer to futsal. A welcoming environment to develop skills and enjoy the game.

Teams are promoted or relegated between divisions based on season performance to maintain parity and fair play.

Everything you need to know about how BG Futsal operates.

Game Overview
  • 1
    6v6 including the goalkeeper. Minimum of 5 players required to start a game.
  • 2
    2 × 20 minute halves + 5 minute halftime (45 minutes total).
  • 3
    Unlimited substitutions. No jewelry permitted during play.
  • 4
    Restarts are kick-ins and must be taken within 5 seconds of placing the ball.
  • 5
    Balls hitting the ceiling or hanging objects are restarted as kick-ins for the opposing team from the nearest sideline point.
Goalkeeper Rules
  • Goalkeepers may only handle the ball within the designated goal box.
  • Goalkeepers cannot pick up deliberate back passes.
  • Goalkeepers can only hold the ball for 5 seconds.
Fouls & Discipline
Fouls
  • No slide tackling — automatic foul.
  • 5 team fouls result in a penalty kick. Every 3 additional fouls also result in a penalty kick.
Cards
  • 🟨
    Yellow card: Player stays on court. Two yellows in a match = Red card.
  • 🟥
    Red card: Ejected from match. Team plays short-handed for 2 min or until opposing team scores. 1–3 game suspension follows. Fighting: up to 2 years suspension.

    Two side-by-side wooden basketball courts.

    Goals approx. 6.5 ft high × 12 ft wide.
Ball & Player Gear
  • Size 4 futsal ball (weighted).

    Flat-soled indoor/athletic shoes required — no cleats.
  • 👕
    Matching shirts/jerseys recommended. Shin guards allowed but not required.

⚠ Insurance waivers must be signed by every player before playing. No exceptions. Team captains are responsible for team conduct.

Frequently Asked Questions
When are the games?
Fridays: 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM  |  Saturdays: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM  |  Sundays: 3:00 PM – 7:00 PM. Generally one game per weekend per team.
How do I register?
Registration is announced before each season on our Home page and social media channels. Individual free agent lists may also be available.
How many players are on a roster?
Up to 12 players per team.
Are there age restrictions?
BG Futsal is an adult league, generally 16 and older.
Is the league co-ed?
Yes, teams can be co-ed.
What are the fees?
Fees vary per season and cover facility rental, referees, and administration. Exact amounts are announced at the start of each registration period.
Can players switch teams?
A player may switch teams once, but only within the first 4 games of a season. A player cannot rejoin the same team within the same season.
What happens if a team doesn't have enough players?
If a team has fewer than 5 players at the start of a game, they concede 1 goal and receive a 10-minute grace period. If still short after 10 minutes, the game is a forfeit (0–2 loss).
